 About Kincaid's Kindred Spirits

 

 

Kincaid’s Kindred Spirits is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization created for the purpose of bringing community awareness to the plight of adults who are afflicted with Sickle Cell Anemia and Sickle Cell Trait.  Our aim is to help lessen their uncertainty and to improve their quality of life by mobilizing for greater health care maintenance, alternatives to independent living and access to employment opportunities.

Kincaid’s Kindred Spirits is to advocate and support research, medical care, and greater access to human services for individuals with Sickle Cell Anemia and Sickle Cell Trait.

 

Goals and Objectives

 

  • Community Outreach

Goal-To provide annual on-going activities that will promote community awareness of the need for healthy living and improve medical access and other support for adults and adolescents with Sickle Cell Anemia.

Objective-To develop community outreach strategies that will keep the public informed about Sickle Cell Anemia and the need for improved health care, support group activities and workplace opportunities for these individuals.          

  • Adult Support

Goal-To establish a support network of major public and private organizations that deliver health and medical care, research and social services targeting individuals with this debilitating ailment.

 

Objective-To develop recruitment strategies that will attract professional supporters in leading institutions for the purpose of building a coalition of professional support.

                  

  • Youth Mentoring Group

 Goal-To provide a youth mentoring program targeting adolescents affected by Sickle Cell Anemia, for the purpose of counseling and providing employment readiness service that will meet the demands of a highly skilled workforce.

 

Objective-To develop a youth mentoring program targeting adolesencts that are affected by Sickle Cell Anemia, so that it will enable them to rise above emotional barriers and to receive higher education, counseling and professional skills.
